ELEOCHARIS PARVULA – Grass-Like Aquarium Plant for Natural Green Carpets and Layered Aquascapes
Eleocharis parvula is a popular freshwater aquarium plant known for forming dense, bright green carpets with a natural grassy look. A member of the Cyperaceae family, it features thin, flexible blades just a few millimeters thick, and grows in a soft, upright manner, reaching heights of 20–40 cm. Its delicate appearance allows it to blend perfectly into a variety of aquascaping styles, from foreground and midground placements to tall grassy backdrops.
It spreads via underground runners, forming new clusters around the main plant. These runners can be trimmed and replanted to manage growth or shape the layout. Eleocharis parvula thrives in moderate to high lighting with regular fertilization and CO₂ supplementation, though it remains easy to maintain and suitable even for beginners.
This plant can be used as a background species or strategically planted in sparse groups across the front and middle of the aquarium to create depth and perspective, contributing to a more immersive aquascape design.
