Staurogyne repens is a compact, low-growing, and resilient aquarium plant, ideal for the foreground of natural layouts and aquascaping setups. Native to the Rio Cristalino in southern Amazonia, this plant features dense and bushy growth with short stems (5–10 cm tall) and small, bright green leaves. Each stem is about 3–4 cm wide, creating a tidy and structured carpet effect in the tank.
Although related to Hygrophila, Staurogyne repens differs greatly in morphology: it is more compact, sturdy, and naturally creeping. In aquariums, it grows horizontally when regularly trimmed. Vertical shoots should be pruned to encourage lateral growth, allowing the plant to gradually spread across the substrate and form a lush green carpet.
This Tropica 1-2-Grow! version is cultivated in a sterile lab environment, free of pesticides, snails, and algae. It is completely safe for shrimp, delicate fish, and biodiversity-rich tanks. How to use:
Carefully remove the plant from the cup. Rinse thoroughly under tap water to remove the nutrient gel. Use sharp scissors to divide the plant into 6–8 portions. Plant each portion into the substrate with tweezers and watch it grow into a lush carpet.
