Calcium and carbonates are crucial for coral growth and overall system stability: if either drops, coral growth halts and aquarium health can deteriorate. When used properly, Reef Carbonate maintains alkalinity without depleting valuable calcium, magnesium, or strontium reserves. Alkalinity should always be kept between 3–5 meq (8–14 dKH), never falling below 2 meq, to ensure a stable and thriving marine environment.
