ASKOLL GH TEST – Titration Test for Measuring General Hardness in Aquarium Water

ASKOLL GH TEST is a titration kit designed to precisely measure the general hardness (GH) of aquarium water, indicating the concentration of dissolved salts, primarily calcium and magnesium. GH is a key parameter for ensuring the osmotic balance and overall health of aquarium fish.

The test is easy to perform and helps identify if water is soft, medium, or hard – allowing aquarists to match water conditions to species-specific needs, such as soft-water tetras or hard-water African cichlids.

Kit contents: • 1 graduated test vial
• 1 bottle of GH 1 reagent (10 ml)
• 1 bottle of GH 2 reagent (10 ml)
• Instruction leaflet with reference guide

Why measure GH: General hardness influences the osmotic regulation in fish. Different species have evolved in habitats with specific GH levels. Maintaining the correct GH ensures reduced stress, better health, and ideal living conditions for all aquatic life.

How to perform the test:

  1. Rinse the test vial with aquarium water

  2. Fill the vial with 5 ml of water

  3. Add 5 drops of GH 1 reagent and shake – the solution will turn red-violet

  4. Add GH 2 reagent drop by drop, shaking gently after each drop

  5. When the solution turns blue, the number of drops used equals the GH degrees of the water

Why choose ASKOLL GH TEST:
A reliable and user-friendly test for checking a critical water parameter. Perfect for both beginners and experienced aquarists aiming to tailor water hardness to the needs of their aquarium species.
