BUCEPHALANDRA PYGMAEA 'BUKIT KELAM' – Slow-Growing Epiphyte from Borneo for Natural and Nano Aquariums
Bucephalandra pygmaea 'Bukit Kelam' is a decorative and compact epiphyte from Borneo, naturally found growing on rocks and driftwood in flowing streams. Its growth and care are similar to Anubias, making it a user-friendly choice for aquarists of all levels.
The plant features green wavy leaves about 2 cm wide and 5 cm long, which often develop tiny white speckles when submerged. It grows slowly but branches out naturally, maintaining a dense and tidy look even without pruning.
Its horizontal rhizome must never be buried, but should be attached to wood or stone using thread or aquarium-safe glue. It thrives in low to medium light and does not require CO₂, although slight supplementation and fertilization will support better growth and health.
Safe for shrimp, snails, and ornamental fish, this plant is an ideal choice for nano aquariums, natural layouts, and aquascapes where long-term beauty and minimal maintenance are desired.
