CRINUM CALAMISTRATUM – Ornamental Aquarium Plant with Curly Leaves, Ideal for Community and Brackish Tanks
Crinum calamistratum is a stunning bulbous plant native to West Africa, admired for its narrow, curly dark green leaves that grow up to 40–120 cm in length. Its graceful appearance makes it a popular choice for both natural aquascapes and community aquariums. Unlike other Crinum species, this plant develops smaller bulbs and has lower light requirements, thriving even under moderate lighting conditions.
Although it grows slowly, healthy plants will produce secondary bulbs, which can be propagated for expansion. A notable benefit of Crinum calamistratum is its resistance to herbivorous fish, making it suitable for tanks with plant-eating species. Additionally, it can be kept in low-salinity brackish water, where it retains its beauty and vitality.
Key features:
Slow-growing, ornamental bulb plant
Long, curly, narrow dark green leaves up to 120 cm
Not eaten by herbivorous fish
Suitable for community and brackish aquariums
Tolerant of moderate lighting conditions
Produces offset bulbs for propagation

Cultivation and aquascaping use:
