CRINUM THAIANUM – Ornamental Bulb Plant with Long Ribbon-Like Leaves for Large Aquariums
Crinum thaianum, native to Thailand, is a striking bulb plant from the lily family known for its dramatic, long ribbon-like leaves that can grow 60–200 cm in length. It is a hardy and undemanding plant, requiring only sufficient space to thrive. Due to its impressive size and elegant form, Crinum thaianum is ideal for large aquariums, where it becomes a central visual feature.
Proper planting is essential: two-thirds of the bulb should remain exposed above the substrate to prevent rotting. Under favorable conditions, mature specimens may send up a flower stalk to the water’s surface, blooming into a fragrant and elegant white lily flower, making this plant not only practical but also exceptionally beautiful.
Key features:
Ornamental bulb plant with strong, slow growth
Ribbon-like leaves up to 200 cm long
Perfect for large tanks and aquascapes
Easy to care for, ideal for beginners
Bulb must be planted with upper 2/3 exposed
May produce an aromatic lily flower over time
Great for central or background positioning
Cultivation and aquascaping use:
Crinum thaianum thrives in moderately moving water, where its leaves can flow naturally. It prefers a soft substrate and moderate to high lighting to support healthy development. Thanks to its robust structure, it suits community tanks and tanks with larger herbivorous fish, as it’s not easily damaged or eaten.
