BUCEPHALANDRA MICRANTHA 'NEEDLE LEAF' – Ultra-Compact Epiphyte for Nano and Foreground Aquascaping
Bucephalandra micrantha 'Needle Leaf' is a miniature epiphytic plant from Borneo, recently reclassified botanically and closely related to small-leaved species such as B. belindae, B. catherineae, and other forms of micrantha. It features narrow, slightly curled leaves, growing no taller than 2 cm, making it perfect for foreground aquascaping and nano layouts.
Its extremely slow growth rate makes it ideal for refined, low-maintenance tanks. Like all Bucephalandras, it is an epiphyte and must be attached to wood or rock, avoiding burial of the rhizome. It thrives under low to medium lighting, soft to moderate water hardness, and benefits from light CO₂ and nutrient dosing to enhance coloration and health.
To prevent algae buildup due to its slow pace, it is best paired with Amano shrimp or Clithon snails, which help keep its delicate leaves clean.
