ROTALA ROTUNDIFOLIA – Fast-Growing In Vitro Aquarium Plant with Red Leaves

Rotala rotundifolia is a captivating and versatile aquarium plant from Asia, prized for its fast growth and ability to turn red under strong lighting and high CO₂ levels. It features 15-30 cm long stems and 2-3 cm width, with slender, elongated leaves that create an elegant, light appearance in the aquarium’s background (third layer). Unlike more demanding species, this Rotala is relatively easy to grow and readily produces numerous side shoots, developing into a compact, bushy form. However, regular trimming is recommended to ensure light reaches the lower leaves and to maintain overall health.

The in vitro packaging guarantees a plant free of snails, pests, and algae, grown in high-quality gel for quick acclimation in the aquarium. Before planting, carefully rinse off the gel under running water and divide the plant into small 1-2 cm clumps to be inserted into the substrate at short distances.
