CaribSea Purple Up is a specialized product designed to promote and accelerate the growth of pink and purple coralline algae in marine and reef aquariums. Unlike common fertilizers, Purple Up does not encourage the growth of nuisance algae, but works specifically to support coralline algae development, enhancing the natural appearance and biological maturity of the aquarium.
Purple Up works through an innovative dual-action approach. It provides immediately available calcium ions, increasing dissolved calcium levels in the water, while Super Sea Calcium, a fine natural marine aragonite powder with a particle size of about 10 microns, adheres to rock surfaces and promotes coralline algae attachment. This aragonite dissolves directly in place, releasing calcium, magnesium, strontium and carbonate exactly where they are needed.
Purple Up also releases iodine, an essential element for coralline algae tissue health, which is rapidly depleted in closed marine systems. Regular use of Purple Up promotes even coverage of live rock, improves aquarium aesthetics and supports overall chemical and biological stability.
