ELEOCHARIS PUSILLA – In Vitro Foreground Carpet Plant for Dense, Low-Growing Aquascapes
Eleocharis pusilla is a low-growing, grass-like carpeting plant perfect for forming dense, bright green mats in the foreground of freshwater aquariums. Closely related to Eleocharis parvula, it has a slightly slower growth rate, making it ideal for long-term, stable layouts where structure and proportion are essential.
Reaching a maximum height of about 5 cm, Eleocharis pusilla spreads via underground runners, producing a neat, compact carpet. It thrives under medium lighting and with regular CO₂ fertilization, responding well to nutrient-rich granular substrates. Its fine, curved blades are especially suitable for natural and Iwagumi-style aquascapes that require refined visual balance.
Cultivated in vitro, this plant is grown in sterile gel free of snails, algae, and pests, making it completely safe for shrimp, sensitive fish, and newly established aquariums. Before planting, rinse off the gel under running water, divide the plant into small 1–2 cm clumps, and plant them closely using tweezers.
