Made from volcanic soils and enriched with beneficial bacteria, this 3mm grain substrate initiates a healthy cycle without the need for external fertilizers, making it ideal for planted tanks and demanding aquatic plants.
As soon as it comes into contact with water, the substrate activates its bacterial colony, converting harmful compounds like ammonia and nitrites into plant-available nutrients, especially nitrate. This early nutrient availability promotes strong root development while suppressing the growth of unwanted algae and pathogens.
Its dual-layer particle structure—brown inner core and black outer shell—ensures light weight, excellent filtration, and water clarity. How to use:
Apply directly to the aquarium base without rinsing. Not compatible with undergravel filters. Shape as desired using an aquascaping spatula. To avoid cloudiness when filling, place a paper towel on the substrate and fill water slowly. After planting, fill the aquarium carefully to the desired level. Any initial cloudiness will clear once the filter is activated.
Post-setup recommendations:
Perform 30% water changes every 2 days during the first weeks
After cycling, maintain weekly 30% water changes
Add livestock only after the tank stabilizes
Avoid products that raise pH/GH, as they may disrupt substrate balance
