Anubias Barteri 'Coffeefolia' – Compact Aquarium Plant with Wavy Dark Leaves and Reddish New Growth
Anubias Barteri var. Coffeefolia is a beautiful and compact variety of Anubias, prized for its distinctive leaf texture and color. Its dark green leaves have a wavy texture between the veins, while new leaves emerge in a reddish-brown hue. This slow-growing plant reaches 15–25 cm in height, with a creeping rhizome that can grow over 15 cm, making it ideal for midground or foreground placement.
This plant thrives when attached to driftwood or rocks and should not be buried in the substrate to prevent rhizome rot. It tolerates low to medium light and does not require additional CO₂, making it perfect for low-tech aquariums.
Anubias Coffeefolia is also fish-safe, with tough leaves that herbivorous species avoid. It can bloom underwater, though it won’t produce seeds in submerged conditions.
