HELANTHIUM BOLIVIANUM 'QUADRICOSTATUS' – Foreground Carpeting Plant for Freshwater Aquariums

Helanthium bolivianum 'Quadricostatus' is a beautiful aquarium plant native to South America, ideal for creating natural carpets in the foreground of medium and large-sized tanks. Formerly classified among dwarf Echinodorus species, it has been reassigned to the Helanthium genus, characterized by its spreading growth habit through the formation of creeping plants. Thanks to its fast development, the substrate becomes gradually covered with bright green vegetation, requiring regular trimming to maintain a neat and attractive layout.

The name 'Quadricostatus' refers to the characteristic fruit featuring four ridges. Helanthium bolivianum 'Quadricostatus' grows to a height of 10-15 cm, making it perfect for the aquarium foreground. It is highly popular in South American-themed aquariums, often used alongside angelfish and discus. This plant thrives under medium to high light, at temperatures between 16 and 28°C, and adapts to a wide range of pH and water hardness levels.
