HELANTHIUM TENELLUM 'RED' – Red-Violet Carpet Plant for Aquarium Foreground

Helanthium tenellum 'Red', formerly known as Echinodorus tenellus, is one of the most classic and appreciated foreground aquarium plants. Native to America, this variety stands out for its ability to develop a stunning red-violet coloration under strong lighting, offering a beautiful contrast against bright green cushion plants such as Micranthemum tweediei.

Featuring narrow and delicate leaves, Helanthium tenellum 'Red' maintains a low height between 3 and 5 cm, making it ideal for natural and Dutch-style aquascapes. When trimmed frequently, it forms a dense and compact grassy carpet, perfect for adding depth and movement to the aquascape. With its moderate growth rate, it is suitable for experienced aquarists as well as beginners familiar with basic aquascaping techniques.
