TAXIPHYLLUM SPEC. 'GIANT' – Large-Leaf Decorative Moss for Natural Aquascapes
Taxiphyllum spec. 'Giant' is an ornamental moss from Southeast Asia, admired for its broad leaflets and compact, decorative growth pattern. Similar in structure to the popular Taxiphyllum alternans 'Taiwan', this variety features slightly larger fronds, providing greater volume and visual impact. It's ideal for enriching driftwood, rocks, and aquascaping elements with a lush, natural green presence.
Despite its name, 'Giant' moss grows slowly but steadily, maintaining a neat, organized appearance under optimal conditions. It thrives in clean water, under low to medium lighting, and benefits from minimal CO₂ supplementation. Regular trimming promotes compact growth and dense branching. When used in the foreground or attached to vertical surfaces, it enhances the aquascape with subtle yet elegant greenery.
Main features:
Broad-leaf, slow-growing ornamental moss
Ideal for foreground use and hardscape decoration
Perfect for driftwood, rocks, and vertical features
Prefers clean water and temperatures between 22–28°C
Grows well with low to medium light and light CO₂
Easy to trim and maintain compact growth
Suitable for all natural aquascaping styles
In vitro cultured: pest-, algae-, and snail-free
Planting instructions:
Remove the moss from its in vitro container and rinse off the gel thoroughly under running water. Divide into small tufts and attach to hardscape using fishing line or aquarium-safe glue. Trim regularly to encourage compact, dense growth and maintain its decorative appearance.
Why choose Taxiphyllum spec. 'Giant':
With its larger fronds and tidy growth habit, Taxiphyllum 'Giant' is perfect for aquarists looking to add texture and richness to their layouts. Its ease of cultivation and slow growth make it a great option for low-maintenance tanks, while its vibrant look brings subtle sophistication to any aquascape.
