BUCEPHALANDRA PYGMAEA 'BUKIT KELAM' – Tropical Epiphyte with Wavy Leaves for Foreground and Nano Aquascapes

Bucephalandra pygmaea 'Bukit Kelam' is a beautiful, slow-growing epiphytic plant native to the Sintang region of Borneo, once widely known as “Wavy Leaf.” Botanically reclassified after detailed research, this species is now recognized for its long, narrow, dark green leaves with elegantly undulating margins.

As a rheophyte, it naturally anchors to rocks and driftwood in streams and waterfalls, making it ideal for aquascaping when tied or glued to hardscape. The horizontal rhizome must remain uncovered, as burying it would cause rot. With a maximum height of 8 cm, this plant is perfect for foreground placement in Nano Cubes and Scaper’s Tanks.

It thrives in low to medium light, withstanding a wide range of conditions including pH 5–8 and soft to moderate water hardness. CO₂ is not essential but enhances growth and coloration, especially when paired with liquid fertilization.

Main features:
• Compact rheophytic plant from Borneo
• Dark green, wavy-edged leaves up to 8 cm
• Slow growth, ideal for foreground aquascapes
• Grows on wood and rocks, never bury the rhizome
• Adapts to low–medium light, CO₂ optional
• Great for nano tanks, shrimp tanks, and natural layouts
• Highly decorative, low-maintenance choice

Why choose Bucephalandra pygmaea 'Bukit Kelam':
A visually rich and hardy plant that brings texture and natural elegance to small or detailed aquascapes with minimal upkeep required.
